Is Higher Education Living in Right Relationship?

As the summer winds down and eager students prepare to return to college campuses in the Fall, I am once again struck by the significant differences between colleges of the past and colleges of today. College is no longer just an educational space; it’s now viewed as an experiential space.

Students don’t just go to college to learn in the classroom but also to learn outside of it. In this sense, the college experience is like a coming-of-age story, and many students come to the campus to find themselves.

College was also an essential part of my coming-of-age story, and choosing the right college was a significant part of my life growing up. At a young age, I felt a calling to be in “right livelihood,” which meant pursuing a life path that would allow me to serve the world.

Unfortunately, the most popular colleges in America do not attract students by broadcasting their service learning and opportunities for personal growth. In the era of the Princeton Review, colleges were primarily advertised based on arbitrary aspects of the on-campus…
