Last night, I had an unexpected movie marathon during the wee hours of the morning. For the first time in a long time, I stayed up late to watch a movie I had anticipated for over a year. In 2022, I read “Cat Person,” a story by Kristen Roupenian published in The New Yorker. The short story explores the budding romance and texts between a college girl and an older man that she gains an interest in while working at a movie theater in a college town. The story was riveting, and I was excited to learn it would become a movie the following year.

However, in our current era of constant content, I completely forgot about it until last night when I saw “Cat Person” in my Hulu queue. The movie also features Nicholas Joseph Braun (aka Cousin Greg from HBO’s “Succession”), the perfect person to play the role of the creepy older man. But the film was a bit more bizarre than the story, and I woke up with some strange dreams after falling asleep to the final scenes.

Despite the random dreams, I have enjoyed burning the midnight oil for the past week. As a result, all of my movie-watching has started happening later and later. However, last night’s movie marathon was so late that I had to check the calendar the following day. And, it was not surprising to discover that February 18th marks the sun moving into Pisces in the United States. Pisces is a mutable water sign, meaning Piscean energy is adaptable and can easily go with the flow of emotions.

Additionally, Pisces is also a sign connected to dreams and escapism, and many astrologers link Pisces to movies and other art forms that allow us to enter a new world. So, as we move from Aquarius season into Pisces season, it only makes sense that movies have been on my mind for the past week and that my dreams are getting weirder by the minute.

So, I wanted to read the charts (and the cards) for Pisces, focusing on how you can practice with the planets during this astrological season!

Pisces in Tarot: Unpacking The Hanged Man

But before discussing astrology, I will discuss how Pisces appears in the tarot. In tarot, the astrological sign of Pisces reads as the Hanged Man. The Hanged Man offers the viewer a peculiar image, mired in religious symbolism and vibrant colors.

The Hanged Man card includes a young man hanging upside down on a t-shaped tree in the Raider Waite Smith. Instead of appearing distressed, a vibrant yellow light illuminates his head, and his hands are casually clasped behind his back, with one leg bent at the knee. In this sense, the image of the Hanged Man conjures up the iconic image of Jesus nailed to the cross. But, instead of showing a picture of suffering, the Hanged Man is in contemplation, and his position reflects the epiphanies that come from looking at the world differently.

And even though he is not yet ready to move forward, by turning himself upside down, the Hanged Man is taking the time to consider his options. Therefore, when the Hanged Man comes up in a reading, it is a sign to take the time to stay still and reflect. It is helpful to stretch out, hang upside down, or find a way to change your perspective and point of view. Then, consider the following questions:

  • Where in your life do you need to change perspective and take a different approach?
  • How can you place yourself in a position to have new thoughts and ideas flow into your conscious mind?
  • Are there places in your life where you can learn to surrender to your fate instead of struggling to escape?

Under the Sea: A Not So Deep Dive into Piscean Energy

Many spiritualists believe that the age of Pisces is closely linked to religion and ideology. However, as we transition to the age of Aquarius, we will see a wider acceptance of diverse spiritual practices. Therefore, it is crucial to let go of things as we approach the end of Aquarius season and the beginning of Pisces. It’s also important not to hold onto things too tightly during this season. Similarly, as the Age of Aquarius dawns, more individuals will embrace spiritual enlightenment. It’s essential to remain grounded and connected to reality while navigating this energy to find the shore.

Grounding is critical because Pisces is traditionally ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams and illusions, which results in its imaginative and artistic nature. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Pisces is also known for its creative talents, particularly in performance arts such as music and theater. Nevertheless, on a lower vibration, or if Pisces is in the early stages of development, they can become lost at sea or overly sensitive to the needs, wants, and feelings of others.

Therefore, an essential part of navigating Pisces season is ensuring you manage your emotions well and maintain proper energetic boundaries between yourself and others. As a mutable sign, boundaries can become incredibly porous during this season, so check in with yourself and others if the lines between yourself and others become blurred.

At the same time, Pisces is the final sign in the zodiac. Therefore, Pisces represents the 12th House on the zodiacal wheel. Therefore, Pisces contains all the wisdom and experience of each sign, making them incredibly spiritual, intuitive, and selfless. People are naturally drawn to Pisces, but as a water sign, their environment plays a significant role in their feelings. Hence, it’s essential to surround themselves with positive energy and good people. To better connect with Pisces’s energy, you can focus on creating space for yourself to dream, imagine, and create!
