So true, I read comics as a kid and then got back into them after taking a Comics class in college. It also amazes me how many assumptions are made about the genre, but I think this is also brought on by the mainstream popularity of specific superhero series. Even though there is an entire world of comics that covers multiple genres and styles, so many people see the entire genre through the comics that have been turned into film and television series. Same plight of the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres.
